I am working on the hydraulics on my 1967 135.
I am having trouble getting the 3 pounds set on the control lever. when I tighten the draft adjustment locking nut it increases the weight to 6 to 8 pounds.
I put a flat washer between the locknut and the plate. is this ok ? It helps but I still can't get the exact setting. I am wondering if I am missing something. all the pictures I have, don't show parts breakdown and I can't really see the exact parts.
I am using Big Deans CD which is good, but haven't been able to hear from him via email, he must be out of pocket.

David
I had already put it back together by the time I saw your answer about the sugar etc. Didn't think about that.
It seems to be working ok without a load. As soon as I fix the flat on the front I will try with bale of hay.
I have a bunch of thorn trees, I have been thinking about filling tires with foam.
Thanks
Dan

Thanks David
I am using a digital scale.
The problem I am having is getting the weight to stay the same after I tighten up the jam nut.
It goes up to 12 pounds when I recheck it.
Can you tell me if something is out of place.
The draft bolt goes thru one side of the bracket-put the jam nut on-goes thru the other side of bracket-into threaded yoke- the yoke slides inside of the hole in the bracket. All is ok until I try tighten the jam nut against the bracket to keep it from backing out of the yoke.
It starts pulling the yoke further down into the bracket and increases the weight.
Thanks
Dan

Hi,
Check that the thread on the screw and in the yoke are in good condition. Try and find some weights rather than a digital scale. It does not matter what (3 pounds of sugar even) I don't think you can control the digi well enough. Weights will provide a constant load.

Hi,
Are you using a spring balance or hanging weights off a suitable bracket? If it is a spring balance it is not suitable. You should have the correct fitting or something similar which will hold a cord parallel with the face of the cover and hang 3 pounds in weights from it. The adjustment is finnicky to get the clearance. You MUST have the wedge fitted to give a definite stop to work from.
The main reason for this adjustment is to ensure that the pump lever is in exactly the correct place.
