Hello, we are trying to fit a pick-up hitch to a MF 595(totally different to 590/188 one). We have the main components in the frame which fits in in place of the drawbar and the hook assembly which fits underneath. We have the release arm and cable but are missing the bracket or assembly that the hook hinges in and the connecting links between the hook and the lift arms. It would appear to be a 'sales' part and is not shown in the parts lists although it is mentioned in the Operator's manual, but that is all. Does anyone out there in 'YTland' have a picture of the hitch or can help with some information about the missing bits?
Thanks
DavidP, South Wales

We have a 1983 MF 698 here it has fitted a puh identical to the standard MF590.Most 600 series i have seen have a telescopic hook onto which the drawbar clevis attaches.I have never taken too much notice of the hitch arangement on MF595s but alot of thier parts seem to be specific to that model.Ian

Hello Ian,
Thanks for that. As mentioned, don't have any info on the 698 but from your description it is different and certainly different to the 500 series. I feel an e-mail to MF France coming on.
Regards
DavidP

The auto hitch is very much a British thing, not many here in NZ only on imports (always wondered where the stuff that went to Cambridge sales ended up!) Just a thought, is the 698 hitch anything like?

Hello Richard, thanks for your reply. I do not have much info on the 698 other than they share the same engine in some models.
The hitches fitted up to 590 are totally different. Because of the extended PTO housing the drawbar frame sticks out a lot further with a far heavier construction. The parts of the pickup hitch that we have consists of a long bar which fits in place of the drawbar and is secured by the 'swinging' pins. The hook is extended from the 'standard' type one to run almost the length of the drawbar frame. On either side of the hook are round bars with a reduced and drilled end for the connecting links that go the the bottom of the lift rods. The main piece that we are missing is the means of attaching the hook at the front to somewhere in the region of the drawbar anchor pin which will allow the hook to pivot when dropped.
If this sounds familiar to the 698 then I would very much like any info that you might be able to give me.
Thanks
DavidP
