My husband recently bought a MF 550, he has had a bucket made for the loader and is trying to sort out the hydraulic connections. He has attached all the pipes and controls but does not know where to connect it all up, he has removed the seat and the panel in the tractor. I am trying to get some help for him as he is finding it all very frustrating so i hope my description is ok!
Many Thanks for your time.

Hi Lindsey,
Can't see from your message whether you are in the UK or elsewhere. It should not make a difference but it depends on what hydraulic equipment your tractor is fitted with.
If you have a cab fitted, look under the RHS and follow the line back from the Hi-Lo gear lever. You will come to the hydraulic cover which covers most of the centre part of the rear axle. At the front right hand corner you should see a valve assembly with pipes attached.. This valve seperated the tractors hydraulics used to lift the rear linkage and that used for implements such as a loader. If you do not have a valve fitted there will be a small plate about the size of an audio cassette box visible held on with two bolts. If you have a valve fitted you should have a pipe going towards the rear of the tractor with a quick-attach coupling of some type used to tip a trailer for example. Again, if you have a cab you should see a lever with 3 positions, EXT1, LINKAGE, EXT2. One of these will supply oil to the loader through the QA coupling. If you are going to operate the loader through a seperate hydraulic control valve you will require a return back to the transmission. This MUST be of larger diameter than the supply pipe. The return is normally fitted to the oil filler hole with suitable adaptors located next to the main gear lever. If you have a cab, this will be difficult to do. Depending on the tractor's previous use, you may already have a return line fitted. This is normally fitted to the upper part of the LEFT hand side of the cover. (Just under the point where the seat is or would be attached. If you attach here, remove the plug and keep the fittings as large in diameter as possible. It is a far better job to attach it at the oil filler point.
If you have the plate fitted, you will find a tapping on either side at the front of the cover and on the top left hand side.
Please come back if you need any more help.
