Im looking for a tractor to be used on a newly acquired 135 acre hilly plot in n e tennessee. need to run a bushhog and reallly need a fe loader. aprox 1/2 of the plot if treed trees amd parts were pasture but are ovrgrown from past neglect. 1-2 inch trees and shrubs.
Im looking for something squat and pretty powerfull (60hp?)

4wd would be a plus but proboanble not necessary.

Can someone help me focus some makes and models for a reliable general purpose farm tractor and ball park prices I could use as a guide. Im looking for a workhorse that is reliable and doesnt cost an arm and a leg.

Thanks in advance

The problem with the brush choppers is there always seems to be too many trees that are slightly too big for the chopper to handle; and if you try to force a large one through- could be expensive. At the least it will be very tough on the cutter and tractor pto, and probably shorten life of both. Maybe some type of hydraulic shear on the front of the loader would be a good investment to take care of the larger stuff you encounter.

An MF 165, 175 or 255,265 would be a good choice in the 50 to 60 HP class. Any 100 or 200 MF series are good reliable tractors and have the best 3 pt. hitch which will come in handy when you get more implements. Dave
