MY QUESTION IS ABOUT THE TO-35 4 CYL.DIESEL ENG.HOW CAN I TELL IF IT IS A PERKINS ENG. OR A 4 CYL STANDERED DIESEL ENGINE.AND WILL ANY OF THE PARTS INTERCHANGE WITH EACH OTHER? ON MY TRACTOR THE INJECTORS AND THE PUMP ARE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE IF YOU WERE DRIVING THE TRACTOR.THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

Derrell -

The 4 cyl is most likely a Standard - model 23C.

Exhaust on the right side (from the seat). Perkins exhausts are on the left side. Fuel pump on the back left of the block. Perkins on the right. Serial number on the top right front of the block, above the gen/alt. SJ######.

Strong smooth engine - ours had over 5000 hours, crank was still standard size. Hard starting, cured by a block heater or a 200 watt heater in the lower rad hose. Even in the summer!!!!! Once it starts, it's good for the day.

Parts are not interchangeable with the Perkins, although the rest of the tractors are the same. Reasonable prices, good stocks here in Canada.

You have a good tractor, once you get the 40 year accumulation of snags cleaned up!

I have a 4-cyl Diesel 35 MF. I thought all 4 cyl
were Standard Engine and the 3 Cyl. were Perkins.
My Standard cost a bundle to rebuild. I think
they were tough tractors. A common problem is hard starting.

well I had a 35x and it had a three cylinder perkins all three cyl were perkins .it is a 152 AD3
If you look at the breather pipe going into the side of the head block there should be some indication as to what engine it but my opinion would be that it is a standard. pierce
