I just finiished replacing the head gasket on this. It runs great! Now I have a problem with overheating! I let it run for about 10 minutes and the coolant starts coming out of the overflow. I had posted this problem last week and it was suggested to keep the level at the top of the tubes. I am doing this but it still 'blows' out the overflow and now is getting up to 210 f before I shut down. I watched the guage and the temp continues to climb to 240 f. Did I miss something? Thanks JJ

I think you will find the radiator clogged. You have covered the other bases. Mine had oil and chaff plugging over 2/3 of the radiator in the fins. The insides of the radiator were clean and clear, but the engine had shown signs of overheating.

Where did the water pump come from?

Aaron

Aaron: I bought the water pump from YT. That was my 2 one. The first had a seal leaking. I am getting the radiator cleaned now. I am also flushing the rest of the system before outting the radiator back in. ThanksJJ

I checked the head gasket before I installed it. This was the same. I am taking the radiator in to the local radiator shop Friday morning to be cleaned out. I am also going to test the new thermostat and get a 10 psi radiator cap. The water pump is new and so is the belt. According to my manual the thermostat needs to be at 165 and the cap I am using is a 7 psi cap.

If no bubbling and everything else checks out, when you changed head gaskets, did you match the new one with the old one, to make sure the new one had all the same holes the same size?? If not, you might"ve blocked some water circulation. If not sure, and you still have the old one, match it to another new one like the one you put in. Good luck.

Look in the raditor when you first start up and see if you see a lot of bubbles. It will be continuous even after the engine comes to temperture. If you do, your headgasket may be leaking again, your head may be warped, or your head is cracked. If you don't see any bubbles, make sure the water pump belt is tight and the lower rad hose is not collapsed. Put your rad cap on because the pressure keeps the coolant from boiling and reducing the heat transfer. Make sure that your thermostat is in correctly. Also make sure that your pressure cap is working correctly.
