I need a radiator for a MF 275. Mine has an integral oil cooler in the bottom tank for the power steering.

After an extensive internet parts search and phone calls, I had a local dealer order one. Came in--wrong one. Part #A-579337M92 fits the tractor, but has no oil cooler. The one on the tractor is A-579337M91, but we cannot find one by that number. We tried A-579339M91 which has close specs and is listed for a 285. Got it in and it won't fit--necks too large and core too thick.

The ones the dealer has ordered come from Clancy in Ireland. The one off the tractor has a brass tag that says Long (Canada) with the 579331M91 number.

Any ideas or a cross reference to one with an oil cooler that would fit? Thanks for the help.

At this point, it looks like I may have to settle for having it re-cored. Another option would be to have the cut tubes soldered shut but I am concerned it may hurt the cooling capacity. There are about 10 tubes damaged to the point of having to be sealed off.

You asked what happened. I was chisel plowing some rough land getting it ready for sprigging Tifton 85 bermuda grass. After 3 days of bouncing off the dry hard clods on the third pass, the bolts holding the front axle support structure worked loose. One of the 3/4 inch aluminum spacers came out when one bolt snapped. In turn, that allowed the top of the radiator support to lean back--in fact it moved the entire hood and dash assembly sheet metal with it to some degree. It took one particularly hard bounce of the front end to allow the fan to get a "bite". Then whoosh--antifreeze everywhere.

Lesson learned, when you hear the strange noise, don't keep running like I did. I did get off and look a couple of times, but couldn't isolate the strange sound. It didn't heal itself!

You have to understand this was in the tractor abuse category. Running full throttle for days on extremely rough ground, with a chisel plow sunk in as deep as I could pull in 1st gear, high range.

My MF 1085 was in the shop getting a new head gasket so I didn't have another choice at that time.

I can't say we've ever even tried getting a new radiator for any of our tractors. Our 285, 165, and Oliver 1600 all have re-cored radiators in them that we had done. Our 1855 I have no idea if it's original or not, but it hasn't given us problems yet....

I say just re-core it and don't worry about finding the right radiator. Re-cored ones are just as good as new, and very often look like new unless the tanks are really beat up.

You'd proably be better off having yours re-cored. What's wrong with yours anyway? JUst have a leak, or are the tanks destroyed or something else?
