no reverse gear MF40, need help

looking for help. I have an MF40 loader/backhoe that has a semi auto gear box (ie a forward and reverse pedal and 1st and 2nd gear with high and low). i have a problem in that it will not select reverse.
any ideas on whats wrong and how to fix?

Steve, One easy possibility-hoping. As former MF
dealers we occassionaly had a unit come in for
work and the problem was the small rockshaft actuated by the pedal thru a stiff spring. The
rockshaft has no routine way to lube and it would
become too tight for the spring to actuate. With
some WD 40 or ? and a visegrip, rotate that small
shaft back and forth a bit and work some lube in.
