I"ve just seen a wonderful Massey-Ferguson 165 for sale. The seller (a tractor garage) says its a 1979 but I"ve found out on the net those models were made from 1964 through 1976.

I"m checking for quite a while to find manufacturing dates but couldn"t come out with anything.

Anybody can help ?

Thanks in advance

Claude, QC Canada

Could it be a UK model? American ended in 75 I think but might have been 76. UK 135's were made up to 79. Not sure about 165's. It's on the web somewhere. Dave

As far as UK models are concerned, the last ones were made in 1976 and then replaced with the 500 Series. It is extremely unlikely that it is a 1979 unless of course it was not registered for some reason and has 1979 plates.

No, not a chance its from UK, we're in rural Eastern Canada so this tractor is most probably native.

Surprising how rare the information about when a specific MF model ended. Even service and part manuals about MF 165 don't relate to years made.

Hmmm..... I wasn't thinking UK models, they were made until 1979 Ser.# 173144 to 173696
Its not impossible even in rural Eastern Canada. I have a 135 UK in very rural B.C. Canada.

American models will have a 9A at the front of the serial number. Dave

Your right Claude, can't be a 79', think the last year was 75'. However the general condition of the tractor is much more important than the year. you need serial # off the tractor to establish the D.O.M.
