Hi,
I would like to add two spool valves to our 590, and get them to operate at the same time as the linkage without changing over selector valves etc, can anyone tell me how to connect them up.
The tractor is non multipower with independent pto.
Thanks

Thanks for that help, if i connect the spools to those connections will they work independently of the linkage, and the selector valve (located under the seat to the left)? Also the tractor has an oil cooler and filter behind the front grille , are these for the linkage pump circuit or something else?

The cooler and filter is because you have a Multi-Power tractor, Filters and cools the same oil as the linkage, multi-power/ipto and aux pumps. You can fit a combining valve if you need more flow to use the output of both pumps if required.

So at the moment am I really just using the output from the linkage pump only?, as the tractor has no spool valves , just a trailer tipping pipe from the selector valve and a return which looks to be plumbed into the left side of the top cover. If i connect spools to connections on top cover as vintage engineer says will this be just be the output of aux. pump? Tractor has 8 speed gearbox non multi power and independent pto sorry for all the questions

Sorry misread your post, if you have ipto then the tractor is fitted with an ipto/multi power pump, hence the oil radiator and filter up front. As it has this pump then the plated drive will be fitted and there is every chance you will have the aux pump there just pumping oil back to the rearend casing, see my post below. Richard.

The connections for the aux pump are on the left side of the rear end casing, just forward of the rear axle, near to where the pto engagement lever goes in the side of the tractor. The larger of the 2 pipes is return. Being an 8 speed dual clutch tractor the aux pump may not be fitted, not all tractors had it fitted, there was a time and certainly on 100 series tractors when you had to have multi-power to get the aux pump. At the moment you are using the output of the linkage pump which is always connected via the selector valve to the connection maked with a part tipped trailer if the decal is still in place. For aux spools there could be up to 3 fitted under the cab floor with the levers pokeing in to the cab by your right heel, they were of Kontack manufacture (when the tractor was sold in England regardless of weather it was built at Banner lane, Coventry, or at the Bouvais plant in France) and were convertable double or single acting, with spring centred return and a lock screw to hold the valve back into pump for running a constant feed, or detented 'kick out' depending how you ordered the tractor new. Hope this helps, Richard.

Most 500 series tractors without spool valves fitted will have the supply+return pipes short circuited. They sprout from the lefthand side cover behind the fuel tank next to where the pto lever enters the transmission center housing. The larger of the pipes is the return.
Good luck
Ian
