Have 180 that the PTO loses power under heavy load when bushhogging. PTO regain power when remove heavy weeds. Is the PTO clutch slipping or other problems or soultions.

I've got a 165 that the PTO quite. Mine had a mayor problem. The PTO hub in behind the transmission had the rear snap ring blow out when the groves let go. Very expensive parts even used. Yours sound like the clutch plates maybe worn and need to be replaced or the pressure from the aux hyd pump maybe low. If it's the clutches your trans oil may look like it has been burned. In either case the tractor will have to be split to fix the problem. Mine for parts cost about $800, that was a used hub $400, new one was $1200, clutches $122, 'O' rings and others parts were rest. I think the same PTO assembly is used up to your model. Best of luck.

When under heavy load do the blades just slow down or quit rotating completely or does the PTO shaft which attaches to your tractor stop moving?

If the blades stop but your PTO continues to turn it would be a slip clutch problem on your mower. If the PTO is stopped then you have a problem in tractor's tramission area! I think!

if the pto is stopped then your pressure plate in the clutch most likely needs replacing or adjusting pierce
