I removed a front wheel from my MH 444 to clean and pack the bearings. The outer bearing came out easily, but the outer cup and the inner parts don't want to come out. Is this common? What should I do?

the bearings will come out easy but the race is pressed in or drove in with a hammer and punch if it's good why change clean it up and if it's not bad reuse it the inner bearing will have a seal that will hold it in and that should be replaced

Thanks, marlowe. Someone told me that the outer bearing is much more likely to need replacing than the inner one. I washed the outer bearing 4 times in fresh paint thinner. Each time there were small chunks of gunk that came out of it. But I didn't see any scratches or damage on the bearing.

So rather than having to replace the seal, what do you think about just wiping away all the grease I can inside the hub and then smear new grease inside and on the spindle - in addition to packing grease into the cleaned outer bearing?
