david...i haven't said hi in a while. how's the weather over there? just out of curiosity...do you farm? you seem to know alot about massey's...didn't know if it was a hobby, if you're a dealer, if you farm or what. like i said...just curious. it's spring here in south west tennessee. been dry enuf that some of the fields around here got turned over the weekend. our hay is starting to green up and we're looking for a good fisrt cut in a couple months. i have two TO fergies...a 20 and a 35. so i spend more time over on the fergie forum but i drift over here once in a while just to learn things. my partner/neighbor/buddy has an old 64 135 his father bought new. i help work on it sometimes since he and i help each other with all our equipment. i've noticed there's not a whole lotta differnce betwen my TO-35 and his early 135.

anyway...have a good day,
-mike

Hello Mike,
Thanks for the posting. The weather here in South Wales has been very nice for the last couple of days (up to 18C) but goes cold in the nights. Not much movement on the grass yet but the hedges are starting to shoot (must get the hedge cutting done before its too late).
Up to about 10 years ago we had a small holding on our 12 acres running a few beef cattle Charolais and Herefords. Paperwork and CJD made it uneconomical to keep them so we sold the cattle and put the ground out to horse tack. A neigbhour now rents the ground for sheep and cattle.
In conjunction with the small holding we ran an agricultural engineering business specializing in MF's. Started with TEA20's to 35/65, then 100 series and our 500 series. I am MF trained on the 100 Series and there is not much that I have not done with them in the last 35 years. Small scale agriculture in the UK was dying and I wanted a change. I am now UK Technical Sales Engineer for a French firm that manufactures what I think you call reach mowers for grass verges and hedges but aimed at the top end of the market, contractors, councils etc. Much of my experience is relevant to North American MF's but of course there are differences. I have had what I call a 35 year love affair with MF and it aint over yet. We also did a lot with compact tractors, Iseki, Kubota etc and golf course machinery etc.
It is strange when I see pictures of the chassis of what is an MF35 in the UK but with a bonnet from a TE20. Also seeing grille/headlamp and fender differences between yours and ours.
I'm passionate about all MF's but the special one?
UK spec A4.212 165 without cab or roll bar. We have had a few in the past but were sold on as part of the business.....but one day.
Cheers David P,South Wales

david...well that would certainly explain your MF knowledge. speaking of 165's...i saw one at an auction a couple weeks ago that was so nice i had a hard time keeping my hand down. i really don't have much need for a tractor that big, it was just in really nice shape and ran well...and i just "wanted" it. it went for $6000, which in my opinion, was a pretty good price considering it's condition.

i noticed our peach trees are starting to blossom. it got up to about 80 here yesterday. sure hope we don't have a late frost now with those blossoms out...but our frost "safe date" is about april 15th here. take care and get those hedges trimmed.

-mike
