I am in the process of rebuilding an H260 engine for a Massey 44 and the gasket set has me stumped on a couple things. It is a Fel Pro set, and it includes 8)"valve oil wicks" P/N F5742 and 4) "oil pan fillers" P/N A5486...Im not sure what these are for...The oil pan fillers are basically lengths of cotton string. Are these to replace the side seals between the rear main cap and engine block? They arent anything like what is shown in the I&T manual...plus nothing is included in the set for these side seals like is shown in the manual. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The very early engines used the wicks and they had the type of side seal where you pound the string ,rope into the groove after the main cap is in place. You probably have the square rubber type with the little flat part on top ? Likely have to use them over, use some silicone rtv gasket sealer to put them back in ,will work fine .Have done this alot .Good luck.
