I have a 1959 MF50 with 2 stage clutch. My clutch pedal is the earlier type that connects directly to the clutch shaft rather than the adjustable linkage. I have found references to a lockout lever that should be installed on the end of the running board that can be flipped down to prevent accidental declutching of the PTO and hydraulics. As you can see from the attached picture, I am missing these pieces. Does anyone have a picture of a working lever and how it is installed so I can make one up? I believe this would be similar on the TO35 and F40s as they all used basically the same transmission. I have been thinking this would be useful to have at times but I have never seen one. I figure I can rig up something easily enough, but it would be nice to see how the factory did it originally as a guide.

Thanks!
Dan

Hi Dan -

I took a couple of pictures of mine this morning, but cannot load them into this message.

If you send me an e-mail at jwetmore at nbnet.nb.ca, I'll send them to you.

Jack

Hi Dan,
Sorry, I do not have a picture to send. The lever is roughly banana shaped. Put about 3 standard 1/4" washers on a bolt and fit it into the slot at about the mid point, fit a nut and lock it up.
Jam the clutch pedal down at a point where the first stage is completely clear has not started to enter the second stage.Cut a template in thin cardboard and punch a 1/4" hole roughly where the hole in the footplate is. Trim the template so that a 'finger' of approximately 1 inch depth fits under the pedal and the inner side of the other end rests against the washers. Moving this bolt in the slot provides adjustment. The tail of the upper end can be left and bent at 90 degrees to form a handle. Cut a plate in 1/8th or 3/16 mild steel to the template. Secure with a bolt and self locking nut or spring on the bolt.
Don't forget to paint it. Voila, job done!!
Cheers
DavidP

Thanks David. This does help. I was wondering how the slot figured in to this, and now I know! I am still hoping to come across a picture, but if I dont I think I can build it anyway with your description.

Thanks again..
Dan

Thanks! I have an owners manual but it is for a slightly later tractor and the clutch pedal it covers is the later system. Just about everything else seems to be the same except this item.

Dan, Been with Massey tractors all my life and
have not seen one. An easier way might be to pull
the little clevis pin where the clutch rod hooks
to the lever going inside and insert in the other
hole. The pedal will sit lower and you will not be
able to use the dual clutch portion. So if you are
out with the snow blower and baler disregard.

Hi Chuck,
Changing the position of the clutch rod clevis is not an option on this tractor as the pedal is connected directly onto the clutch shaft.
