I have a Massey Harris 44GS & would like to find some information on it. I have found information about 1950 Massey Harris 44GSV, that were apprently recalled & destroyed. Any suggestions as to where to look?

The V in the serial number would have been a Vinyard model. They couldn't all have been destroyed, I saw one article in a tractor magazine a few years ago where one was featured. The vinyard models were very narrow, the rear axle housings were only half as long as normal standard 44's. The G is for gas and the S is for standard (non-adjustable) front end.

The serial number is located on a tag on the left side of the frame. If that"s missing, it"s also cast into the top of the transmission cover. It will help you determine the year. As for manuals, you can find them all on Ebay. If you have any other questions, e-mail me. I have a 1953 MH 44GS, and I have plenty of experience with it.
