sounds like a weird problem. Mayby you should try running it without the fuel tank cap, just in case the air vent to the tank was glogged.

I do agree with Jecarre.
I have a 178 MF which sometimes caused me same kind of problems. It worked all right all days I used it but sometimes suddenly stopped, particularly in hard work conditions (with a higher need of fuel I assume).
Engine seemed to have a fuel supplying problem but when I checked circuit, all seemed all right. Fuel was arriving normally under tank and also to the injection pump when using the manual pump.
All tubing were tignten enough.
This problem became more and more frequent. Then I decided to replace 1st filter which is logically the more dirty but no effect. Few months later, I decided to replace 2nd one and until today, I never had this problem.
If every thing looks all right, and if you are not sure filters are recent ones, replacing them would be a good point to do, and not so expensive.
Good luck.

Are you sure that the shutoff is completely opened? I had this happened this to me once, and the tractor left me 2 times in the field before i figured it out...
Other thing that might cause this is a glogged intake screen in the fuel tank. You can get to it when you unscrew the fuel tap from the tank.

Hi STEVE,

It looks like your fuel filters are plugged. If you not sure it is clean, then replace them and bled air the fuel arrival. According to me it is the first thing to do. I hope it will help. Jicarre
