Still want to get a hoe for around the farm, last deal evaporated in thin air, now looking at used 3 pt hoe. International made a rugged little hoe - model 3082. Any one have any experinces good or bad with 3 pt hoes. I have been told that some have pulled tractors apart or is that just rurban legend?

Hi, You can buy a hoe second hand that's been used on a Bobcat or other skidsteer and modify to suit the three point linkage. I bought a Clark 909 that came off a Bobcat 753 to put on an MF 135. But then an MF 40 loader and backhoe with 3pl came up so I bought that. I saw a post on tractorbynet.com (?) where a bloke had built a subframe to stabilise his aftermarket 3pl backhoe but he was quite an operator, did a beautiful looking job. I think you need a subframe.

Hi.

I know that 3 pt hoes are yucky to dig with compared to those mounted to the tractor.
When you push the feet down and lift up the hoe, the tractor will not be lifted, so the hoe will move around a lot.
If you have a steady mounted hoe, and push the feet down they will lift the tractor, and if you have a loader too, and are able to push it down, so you lift the front wheels off the ground the entire unit will stay a lot better, not moving around when you dig. Much more comfortable to work with.
But, I can not see any reason why a 3 pt hoe can't be mountedsteady to the tractor if you fabricate some brackets and such things. It will make wonders for working with it.

My hoe is like this, and I can still remove it quickly.

Most 3 point mounted backhoe manufacturers
can supply a top link stabilizer "V" support
which permits backhoe down pressure using tractor weight.

That said above statement is for small backhoe

For commercial/industrial big backoes heavy-duty
sub frame is recomended to avoid severe stress
on the 3 point components.
