Hi- Can anyone give me an idea of what a MF65 Gas with a rod knocking from the engine would be worth. I don't have the time nor skill to fix it myself so I am thinking of selling it. The tractor seems clean other then that. Has one good rear tire, one bad, front are good. Has a nice front bucket. We are in Colorado where tractors seem to run a little pricer. Thanks,

I live and learned... the hard way. I did not know about any of the problems when I bought it, but I also was a rookie on what to look for. Now I know! Thanks for all the useful info. If anyone knows someone in Colorado who wants to take on a repair project have them post me a message on this forum as it is officially for sale. See ya!

Twiggs, looks like you are going to take a beating on this one. With possible head crack, with possible block crack, with rod knocking, with possible crank ruined, this engine is a coin toss as to fixability. And when you add the probable clutch, pressure plate, throw out, and the PTO problems, sounds like a parts tractor. How much of this did you know when you purchased this tractor from individual, dealer, or auction?

You might think I am a tractor Vulture, but if you do not sell it whole or fix it, let me know. I am working on a basket case right now and always looking for parts
Thanks

Read your earlier posts about this tractor. You said either the head gasket or the head was cracked. Did you pull the head?? Have it checked?? If not then maybe the block is also cracked. Doesn't sem to fit with "The tractor seems clean other then that"? How bad is the knock? What else is wrong with this tractor? Pictures would be nice. Tom

Yeah, many left me good advise which is greatly appreciated. We have not pulled the head off yet because we are worried about the rod and starting to price this out. It is possible that the block is cracked. Crankshaft problems are possible as well then correct? I will try to post some pics next week. The tractor is at a friends and I am out of town. The tractor starts up immediatley even when its cold. I can't say forsure it is in good condition beyond all these issues due to the head problems posted earlier. I know that the clutch needs adjustment or perhaps has problems as well because you can't engage the pto without turning off the tractor. The tin is straight, seat is new, paint was redone at some point but not new. Hydrolic hoses look relatively new.
