I have a mf 135 and it reained pretty hard and I am sure water got down the steering column because the steering box is leaking. How do I fix this and can I run it before fixing it? I want to get the water out. if any in there. Is it connected to the entire tranny system?

Thanks for all the help! I sucked out about 6 0z of water and some sludgy oil crap. I didn't have a large syringe so it took a while. I only had some 10w 40 laying around so I filled it with that for now I guess it will be ok Right unill I get a syringe that I can replace the entire fluid with. What kind of oil goes in there anyway so I can do It right?

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure if I have a filler hole or not it is a manual steering setup. If so is there still a fill hole?

Yeah there's a small filler plug on top of tha box. I have the same problem with mine, it froze solid this winter, have ta keep a light bulb on it so i can use it. Gonna suck her out when it warms up some, bought a nice little suction pump from NAPA..... ...JJ.

Hi,
I don't think it will make much difference whether you have the North American of European type box. If you suspect there is water present, insert a piece of plastic pipe into the filler hole and right to the bottom. Either suck it yourself (very cautiously) or use a syringe of some sort to draw out whatever is in there. If you can get the oil out it won't do any harm to replace it. Steering box and transmission are seperate.
