I posted this in the wrong forum yesterday. My apologies.

As I understand it, the only difference between an 1100 and an 1130 is the turbocharger on the 1130. Is this just another headache or do they operate reasonably well and reliably? How much (ballpark) would an 1130 in good condition (everything works, avg. paint and metal) with about 6000hr fetch? Thanks.

I have an 1100 and 1130 also. The turbocharger has never given any trouble. My 1130 has over 18000 hrs.

There is a little bit more then just a turbo. The 1130 also has a different crankshaft, injection pump, injectors, pistons, connecting rods, their are also differences in the valve seats on the cylinder head. The 1130 has an oil cooler the 1100 does not. 1130 has a 50 gal fuel tank, most 1100's have a 35 gal tank. I have an 1100 and an 1130, both are excellent tractors the 1100 starts a little better in the cold. The 1130 is likely to have bigger tires(mine does). 1130's will out work any tractor in it's class(JD 4320, IH 1066 etc.) and use less fuel doing it. Depending on your area and how much Massey tractors are respected it could bring $6000 to $10000. I gave $4500 for mine and have put almost that much again in to it in tires and repairs, but besides paint it's like brand new.

Hey, thanks for taking the time to respond with the useful information. Has the turbo on yours ever given you any problems or does it appear to be some pretty straight, reliable engineering? One I'm looking at is asking 8k, and I'm thinking about throwing my MF 180 gas in on the deal to lessen the pain. Bill

Turbos are just as reliable as any onther engine part. Some considerations when operating your turbocharged tractor is let it warm up before you put it under load and let it idle for a few minutes before you shut it down. 8k seems like a fair price if it is in good shape.
