Hi,
Just had a look at Dan's photo of a 'TO30' on the 'Stuck and Troubled' page. This tractor looks exactly the same as our TEA and TED 20 etc in the UK. But in the States and assume Canada it was called the TO30. Does anyone know the specific reason for the number change? Appreciate any info from anyone in the know.
Regards
DavidP

Hi David, as i understand it this relates to engine size. Harry started off building the TO 20 in 1948 using the Cont.Z120, then in 1951 using the Z129 it became the TO30. I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong.
Cheers JJ.

Hi David - We purchased a new TEA in 1954 from our local Co-Op here in Southern Ontario.I don't believe there were any TO30's sold here at that time. I was only 10 at the time, but I believe it cost around $1400. Can. We traded a 1944 BR all fuel hand start on it (Darn!!)

The TE was Tractor Europe, while the TO was Tractor Overseas. The main difference was the use of the Continental in the US models. The TE petrol models used the Standard Vanguard. There were many TE's imported to cover the market while the TO-20 was being geared up for production. The TE's can be found, but they are usually advertised as TO's as parts for the TE or "Grey Fergie" are kinda hard to come by. The TE goes for a little less due to this. Not sure why a different name was used...

It is my understanding thet the TEA-20 had the Standard Engine for use in England while the TE-20, which was made at Coventry, had the Continental Z120 and was exported to the States after TO-20 production stopped at Detroit in I believe 1950 or 1951. The TO-30 was made in Detroit from 1951 to 1954 and used the Continental Z129 engine. If I'm wrong someone will straighten me out!

Hello,
Thanks to everyone for your answers. Whilst very familiar with the MF 35/65 UK onwards it is always interesting to find out any info on territorial differences of the tractors that the later ones were built on.
