I have a snowblower hooked to the pto on my 1085.Today while I was blowing snow the blower would stop when I was trying to blow too much snow.So I tried blowing less snow, will the problem continued until the pto stopped all together. Also the hydraulic ram that I have attached to left the blower stopped working also, well it worked but very very slowly.I was thinking that maybe the hydraulic oil was low,but I can't find a hydraulic tank.I just purchased this tractor a few months ago and don't know where anything is.I did find a dip stick on the rear of the tractor but I thought that was for the diff.
Could this be the problem, if so where do I put the oil.If not anyone know what the problem is.

I agree with BigMarv, if the pto has done much slipping, the clutch pack disc are probably shot. I have been told that without a cab, just a platform, it can be split in about 2.5 hours.

Looking forward from the rear of the tractor the dipstick is on the right side. The tube for the dipstick is also where oil is poured in. Be certain to use a good grade of oil. If the oil level is ok, consider changing the hydralic filter if your tractor is equiped with one.

The hyd. oil filter is in the bottem of the tranny and cant be changed without tearing the tractor down. The one in the front behind the front grill is only for the multi power. In order to add oil you need to screw off the hex headed cap just below the stearing wheel on the floor.

If the oil level is high enough to be on the dipstick, the PTO should operate. If changing the filter doen't help, the next step will problably be to check the pressure on the auxillary pump.

On the Discussion Board page type 1085 in the search for box and click go. A list of all topics regarding the 1085 will be listed. You will find past postings that should help.

Hi,
If your oil level appears to be at least on the dipstick the filter is the first thing to check.
Your Multi-Power operation will be an indication as well. Assuming that you have no leaks in the system the problem could well be failure of the auxilliary pump which provides power for the PTO.
Ouch!!!

Hi Sibby,
Long time no speak. I would have to be honest and say that I have not done anything with 1085's only a small amount with a 1080, but a lot of course on 100,200 and 500 series. Having to do a full split is a pain but the SECOND one is not so bad as long as you have the equipment.
Cheers from South Wales

David

Does your multi power still work good. I was cutting hay a couple of years ago and the multi power started slipping on the way to the field. While cutting the hay, the pto started slowing down and would catch up when I would stop. Ended up splitting the tractor and replacing the pto disc and plates and the aux. hyd. pump. My problem was a loose hose going to the pump.
