brake noise

hi i have mf 65 gas and when i go to apply the brakes, even with little preassure i get a little kick back from the pedal, and a banging, clanking, sound, and then they seem to work fine. what seems to be the problem?, or what is wore out now, and how i convince my wife that i need to spend any more money on my 65. thanks for any help

HI,
The 'kick' is likely to be the brake actuators turning slightly in the axle casings. There will probably be wear on the lugs of the actuators and in the axle housing. This might be more noticeable when you apply the brakes going forward for the first time after you have gone in reverse and applied them and vice versa.
The main thing is that the brakes do not jam on and fail to release. If they operate smoothly on and off then this is annoying but something that you might be able to live with for the moment.
