The multi-power on my 175 quit working. Will not go on high side. Will it damage anything in transmission if I use tractor, low side multi-power? The other day was using it and was turning right & right side of tractor was in a sloped down ditch, choked engine down in 6th gear, put it in reverse, worked with it a little,got it to move backwards, then put in foward gear & been going since. Don"twant to tear anything up, but need tractor to use for now.

Lestr, Try adjusting the linkage "layman style"
With the multi-power lever fully up,loosen the
linkage where it grips the rod that goes into the
top of the transmission. Then push the rod fully
down and retighten on the rod. The linkage gets
worn where it swivels and doesn't fully push the
rod down enough. This works more often than not.
Good luck, Chuck

Hello,
Assuming that the oil level is OK I think the problem may be the flexible hydraulic hose that supplies oil from the pump to the MP valve block. The metal union or pipe on the hose are prone to break particularly on older tractors. There is continual vibration and very slight movement in the pump and this ultimately causes failure. If this is the problem then it will be necessary to remove the gearlever and hydraulic covers.
Yes you can leave it in low but;
You will not have any engine braking, this is dangerous for any new driver on it.
Whilst the MP clutch pack is largely immersed in oil the plates will become 'dry' and wear more rapidly if 'high' range is not engaged occasionally effectively to wet and lubricate the plates, landing you with a bigger bill.
