I've had good luck using 15W40 in both my tractors, winter and summer. The Massey Harris 30 starts just fine with it and has good pressure winter and summer. The MF35 diesel gets plugged in for a few minutes if it's much below freezing, but I find it holds its pressure much better with the heavier oil than with 10W30 when snow blowing.

I used 30 to minimize oil consumption, fine for summer but forget starting the tractor below zero unless you have a block heater or such to thin the oil

went to good quality 10-30 and winter problems went away, slight increase in oil use but not bad

mine is 3cyl gas AG-152, has spin-on filter, ask for filter for AD-152, use a good filter, NAPA has them, I stopped using Fram based on comments found here

love the MF135

The same oil you use in your car, though the tractor oil can be thicker. I use 10W30 in my MF-135 and it takes 6 quarts. Look for an oil that meets SAE SJ rather than SM according to some arguments.
