Hey, thanks to everyone who chimed in on my issue with the planetaries on my MF65. Pulling the bearings up against the split retainer solved it. don't know why the dealer didn't do that to begin with. I've ordered new shims to get the preload set right.

On last question I can't seem to answer with my manual concerns the orientation of the Planetary Ring Gear. It has a small hole (about 1/8") that I think was pointing up or down when I disassembled the axles, and that I forgot to take pictures of. Does anyone know which way this should be oriented? Does it matter?

I'm glad you figured it out. I remember the hole you are talking about. I can't imagine why it would matter which direction that hole is pointing.
