Hey Jay- there is a picture floating around of a 1135 Massey Ferguson Spirit of America tractor that appears like a local dealer painted it up somewhere in the mid-west (I don't remember what state it was, that photo is elsewhere on this same site.) The Tractor appears to be in a 4th of July parade and the owner had owned it until about 10 years ago and sold it. I have looked long and hard for pictures or proof that there was an actual Massey Ferguson 1155 Spirit of America tractor that was sent around the country by Massey Ferguson Inc. There was a plastic model toy that was portrayed by Ertl in their 1/25 model kit that came out in 1975 for the bicentennial. They also released it as a 1/64 metal toy in 2000. I have not been able to find proof that an actual 1155 tractor ever existed. HOWEVER- in 1976 at the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Ky (when I was in the 7th grade), Massey Fereguson corporation DID display a Massey Ferguson 1135 Spirit of America Tractor (the real McCoy!). It had a red hood, blue cab, stars all over it. It was painted all up and looked exactly like the model kit Ertl did for the 1155. I asked the lady who worked at the Massey Ferguson information booth if there was a "real" 1155 Spirit of America tractor and she said yes, but she did not know anymore about it or could she tell me where it was. So there was indeed a real live honest to god "Spirit of America" Massey Ferguson tractor done up by Massey Ferguson, Inc. It was a 1135 and I climbed on it and saw it with my own eyes! I believe I took a picture of it with a Kodak X-15 that I used to have, but God only knows what ever happen to the picture. My mom probably tossed it out when she cleaned out my room when I went off to the Marines in 1981! Thanks! - Ferenc Vegh, Shelbyville Ky
