I am new here so I hope this OK to post since the tractor is not and antique.

Today while moving my 3 horse gooseneck something snaped when I let out the clutch and the tractor quit moving. it sounded like it came from behind me and to my left

I can go thru all the gears and the tractor acts like it is in neutral.
Tractor rolls freely in gear.
PTO and lift work fine. The pedal the locks the rear end has no resistance.

Does anyone here have an idea what it could be?
Anything I can find out about this before I have it fixed will really help me out.

Thanks,

David Waits

David, This problem is most certainly a shearing
of a coupler, designed on most MF utilities to
shear before major damage is done. Remove a side
cover on the diff housing and look right ahead of
the diff. pinion. You will see a coupling that is
3-13/16" long. It could be sheared, or slid fwd.
To remove simply slide over the short section of
shaft ahead of pinion and remove as a unit. Best
to you David. Chuck

The coupler that connects the drive line between the transmission and differential pinion shaft has a groove in it this groove is there so the coupler will break before it breaks something else more expensive. The best way to replace it is by removing the liftcover under the seat. If I can be of further help email me

It has broke the center out of the motion clutch or something in the high/low shift or it could be the pinion shaft but doutful.
