Hi,I have perkins AD3 152S engine that is tierd. The engine kit for this is very expensive compared to the AD3 152 kit used in the mf 135. The only difference i can see is that the mf 135 has 5 piston rings rather than 4 that mine has.Is it ok to fit these pistons?? thanks phil

I rebuilt a '75 135 with the 152 in it and I took out 5 ring pistons (well they were supposed to have five rings anyway) and put in 4 rings. What's the 152S in? What does the S stand for? Many thanks, tractorsam

Hi,
Most specifications for the 152 and 152S are the same. The 152 gives 45HP and the S 47. Compression ration is 18.5:1 for the 152 and 16.5:1 for the S. You may need a slight adjustment on your fuel pump. My suppliers book shows 4 and 5 ring pistons for the AD3.152.

Hi, david p
Thanks for the advise, I will now go ahead,I could not see there being too many problems but it pays to ask. Does the extra ring raise the compression? You have a lot of knowledge on mf's are you a mf fitter? Thanks phil

Hi,
The position of the extra ring would make negligible difference to the CR. I believe that the toroidal cavity in the piston crown is different. The S was never as good a starter as the 152. They gained a couple of HP and had to pay for it somewhere.

As to me, yes MF trained on the 100 Series but have been a self employed agric engineer for the last 32 years specializing in mainly older MF's.
I refer to it as a 32 year love affair.
