Hey guys, my dad has a '53 Pony and the control arm coming out of the gov housing on front of engine is very stiff and unresponsive. The engine runs smooth but when opening throttle wide open the rpm's barely respond if at all. If I reach up and pull on the gov arm when running then it will speed up. Also when engine is off the gov arm feels very stiff and hard to move by hand. thanks for any help. Chad

Farmer--Nothing much to a Pony governor even if you end up taking the front cover off. Lever is connected to a shaft which goes through a felt seal into cover. Try some good penetrating oil first, applying it to area where shaft goes into front cover. Also check to make sure both pieces of linkage are not causing a problem and the throttle shaft is free in the carb. Gaskets and seals are available should you have to remove the front cover. Hope This helps
