I was talking to a friend tonight, he has a Ursus Tractor. I think it is a 3250, supposed to be the same thing as a MF231 ?? It is only a few years old, with only 200 hrs on the clock. It has developed a problem, It runs for an hour or so, then starts missing and finally quits. My first thought was a clogged filler cap, but he had already tried running it with the cap loose, and the same thing happened. He has changed fuel filters several times, that does not help.. Everyone is telling him that the injection pump needs to be rebuilt, but I think it is an issue of air getting in the system, before the pump. We are going to look at it Saturday... Any ideas or hints ??? TIA

Your friend may well be right about the pump. A recent experience with a Universal highlighted the fact that although the pumps may look similar they are very different and the quality is very different. The pump on this Universal had a major coming apart inside and wrecked it. The customer had to pay the full price for a genuine Lucas replacement...approx 1000, what's that...around $1800?

Thanks for the tip, David.. Hopefully, we can find a fuel delivery issue to get it fixed,, but if it needs a new pump, I guess he will just have to bite the bullet. I am not surprised that some of these tractors use cheaper components, after all they are usually sold much cheaper than the name brand tractors.. Thanks.

We worked on it Saturday.. Line from tank to lift pump was restricted.. Cleaned it, installed a new lift pump.. Started it up , it ran OK several hours... Hopefully it is fixed..
