The power steering on my 1085 seems to be locking up, the wheel is next to impossible to turn, pump seems to be working OK, but not sure how much oil pressure is getting to steering ram. Any ideas??? I was hoping to deal off this unit, so don't want to get into a total rebuild of steering. There is no direct mechanical link to wheels, only hydraulic lines. Help !!!

If I remember right the MF1085 is one of the tractors that have the extension going down from the steering wheel to the directional selector unit they have bearing for that shaft. We had quite a bit of trouble with those bearing binding up making it all but impossible to turn the steering wheel. I know the MF180 and MF1080 both had those and I am pretty sure the MF1085 has them also.

Thanks Dean , I am in the process of accessing that bearing, it's a mild winter up here in Canada so far, so fairly easy to work outside. 50 degrees F , can you believe it! Thanks for the help , once again. --- Bill

My 1085 gets stiff every once in a while and I take some chain oil and spray down the steering shaft and its loosens up.
