Why do some Pacers/Ponys have 2 round holes in the side panels and others have either 1 hole and still others have no holes? What is the purpose of the holes? The holes do not appear to be year specific.

The holes in the side panels on this one line right up so I can see the gas bowl and other items under there without taking them off.

Thats a good question. Another question I asked in the past is some Pony's have the light switch installed opposite the speed control lever on the dash near the toolbox. I thought this was the wrong location on my 1954. I purchased a original parts manual from 1954 and it does indeed show a hole there in the diagram. But most the ponies I've seen have it by the choke lever. I've seen only 3 or so up top.

I just purchased a 1954 Pacer and left side panel has only one hole and the right side (which I"m sure is not original) does not have any holes. I have yet to purchase the owner"s manual for this Pacer. I"m not sure about the light switch...I can"t remember where my Dad"s Pony has it"s switch.

I sure hope someone can shed some light on the side panel conundrum for me.
