Hello everybody,

Working on the dash board for wiring, I noticed that cable is missing, so that is the reason it did not work. I do not know what could happened to that part and why it is missing. Could you suggest me a trick or a spare part to make it working ? Especially I am interested to know where to fixe it on the engine.
Many thanks

The Tachometer cable connected to a gear train adapter on the back of the original generator. A lot of those generators have been replaced with an alternator or generator that is not equipped to except the tach drive adapter. I think this is what you wanted to know about.

 281x tachometer problems and transmission safety l in reply to Big Dean, 01-04-2007 07:19:34
I just bought a MF 281x which has two problems.

The transmission safety lockout has been disconnected and it will start in any gear and with the PTO engaged. Any ideas.

The 2d problem is the tachometer part number 057763t1. It works randomly, which may mean that it is shorted internally. Has anyone else had that problem.

Thanks.
Terry

Good morning,
I assume that you are referring to the tractormeter cable. First of all you will need to check to see if the tractormeter is working. You will need a small rod ground down to about 2mm x 2mm ( a large match (alumette) may do)to insert in the connection on the clock. Turn the rod quickly and the needle should respond. If it is seized you will only break a new cable if fitted. If you neep a new clock you have to identify whether the tractor is Multi-Power or 6 speed and whether the clock is in MPH or KPH. Probably for you KPH. The other end of the cable is fitted to the timing cover on the engine. If you look in past the dynamo and downwards you should see a small 90 degree gear box. This is held in place by 2 1/4 UNF bolts (11mm spanner) It is worth removing this item to ensure that it is working. Ensure you re-engage the drive when refitting.
Do you have a BEPCO parts supplier near you?
The Belgian Tracpieces are located at Wanze tel +(32)085 27 80 80
They would tell you who your nearest agent is;
Only one cable is listed for Bepco.
It is 30/177-6 (882 021 M91) Length 1355mm, CLock fitting 1/2", engine fitting 5/8 UNF Hope this helps
Regards
David
