I posted a message here last summer that I had run my 40B without oil. The tractor would still run but it would Knock after it got warm. I removed the engine today and dropped the oil pan. I spun at least one rod bearing and the mains don"t look good. I am not a motor re-builder myself and would perfer to buy a good used one. Anyone know where I might find a good Perkins 203 ua SERIAL # 139252DL. Thank you Wyman 573 358-2156

A good used one will probably cost a lot more if you can find one. It's possible all you need is new bearings. You still need to have everything cleaned up, measured and hardness tested but if you fix the one you have, you'll know the engine is good. You could put new bearings and hone the cylinders and put new rings as well. I'd get a good mechanic to take a look and see how bad it is. The fact it didn't seize means it might not be as bad. Dave
