Anyone know how difficult it is to rebuild the lift cylinders on my freeman loader? Any special tools required? Or what is a ballpark figure to have them rebuilt? Thanks

How hard it is depends on how the end is assembled. If its tie rods its simple. If its a spring key, it takes a BIG (like four feet size) pipe wrench and a BIG vice and there are several variations that take different big tools.

I generally pay the local agricultural machine and welding shop $25 for a cylinder repair. I've been quoted as much as $450 some other place but that cylinder had lots of rust pits on the shaft and cylinder. A new one was half that price.

Then you have to find the right seals, which sometimes are simply o-rings with back up rings, and sometimes are special. Check with Baum Hydraulics for the parts though you may not be able to tell what you need until you get the cylinder apart.

Parts will cost less the $50 each and if done by some one else add another $50 or so. I've had cylinders rebuilt for around $50-100 depending on the cylinders
