My 135 was parked for about four months. When I went to move it, the loader would not work. The tractor would drive, just with the loader rubbing the ground. I checked the fluid level and it was low. I brought the level back up and now the loader works, but the tractor will only move a very little (sometimes none) in low - 1st or Reverse. 2nd, 3rd, or anything in high will not move. Any help would be appreciated.

That's strange...It's not a hydrostatic transmission... Just a clutch and gears... power transmission is interrupted...

1)Clutch shot or not engaging flywheel
2)Something broke or not engaged in the tranny.
3)Brakes frozen or stuck ?

You rev up the engine, let the clutch out and what happens... nothing ? or does the engine pull down at all?

When you rev the engine, it just sits there and doesn't bog down. Brakes are not frozen, because I pulled it to the barn with a truck and it rolls fine. When I engage the PTO, it grinds. Does the clutch work with the PTO? If it does, I guess it's the clutch. Just funny that it started when I filled the fluid up. This is all new to me.

Strange.

There is most likely a 2 stage clutch on your machine. One stage engages the drivetrain. (top of the pedal travel) The 'bottom' stage engages and disengages the PTO.

So you have PTO but no travel. Could be that first clutch or maybe... do you have multi-power ?

I wonder if your multi-power (hydraulic operated planetary gearset) is stuck between it's high/low ?

Another quick question. When you try and put the tranny in gear, can you feel the gears engage ?

That's another thought.. tranny stuck between gears ? The MF '100' series was somewhat notorious for doing this. There are lots of posts on how to remove the tran filler cap and pry the gear back into the fork. Usually they stick IN gear rather than out.

Try both the left hand lever and the right hand high/low range lever.

Here's silly question. Is the high/low range lever on the right stuck in neutral?

The high low will shift fine, but it won't move at all when in high anything. In low, it will creep a foot or two and then stop, if any.

I can feel the trans change into and out of gears.

When the "power" lever on the dash is in high, it won't shift though. I have to put it in low, then the transmission will shift from one gear to another. Is this the multi-power you are talking about? All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Many moons ago when we got our MH50 an experienced mechanic sort of snorted at my choice (he was a Case man) and remarked that MF's and Fergs were famous for having their driveshaft couplings coming loose. That is, there is a coupling between the output of the trans and the input to the drive pinion. Whether that's loose or broken, I dunno. Seems like it wouldn't move no matter what if that were the case.

Yes, that's the multi-power. In high range it's tough to shift. In low range things shift easily.

Note that when in low range, the tractor will freewheel downhill. (no engine braking).

You've really got me stumped. Moves a couple feet and stops in low range. Won't move at all in high. Engine doesn't lug down. Tran feels like it's shifting ok. Multi-power seems to be shifting ok.

You might try (carefully) giving it a (tow), putting in in gear, let the clutch out and see if the engine turns over. (multi-power in high)

Try re-posting this to the main tractor discussion area. Some real experienced guys hang around there that might have better ideas than I've come up with.

Seems like the drive clutch is worn out.
You can check it from below through the adjustment hole under the flywheel (I could on mine)
