The diff lock on my early 1970s MF 40 loader backhoe (an MF 2203 industrial) is seized. I believe it is the same set up as an MF 65 with 7 inch disc brakes and planetary hubs. The diff lock shaft is seized within the axle casing, Does anyone have advice as to how I might free it? thanks

I have a MF 40 loader backhoe and the same thing happen to me. I loosen it up the shaft in the housing with penetrating oil like Joe said also.

If the carrier plate (on the axle housing) has been remove at one time make sure it was put back with the cam lock screw tight.

Hi

If internal d/l components are not damaged and it is only the shaft seized in casting you may spray some WD-40 or other good penetrating oil around the shaft near the diff casting every day for several days.

Had this problem on my MF-50 and solved with WD-40
