Hello Guys,

I verified the level of the tank for the steering power... It is OK, then I think the pump is not working good, because it is hard to turn. I am able to turn it easily only when I am driving. How to verify if the pump is still working good ? Thanks for all your ideas !

Hello Jicarre,
You refer to the steering tank, I assume that you are referring to the reservoir behind the pump mounted on the lower part of the right hand side of the engine. It may not be the pump. If you remove the grille door and Multi-power radiator if fitted you will see the steering ram with the spool valve assembly on top. Connected to this is a barrel with a threaded rod in each end. Have someone turn the steering wheel slowly and look for looseness (play) in any part of the barrel, particularly the pins (les broches). To the right you will see a large screw with a straight slot and a large nut on it. There must be movement here for the system to work. Check for play in the ram rod (bague) and any other part of the steering linkage. Initial movement of the steering wheel must move the spool to provide power. If this movement is lost in play, the system will not work. Play and wear must be kept to an absolute minimum. It may be easier when moving as any non-PAS vehicle would be.
Please let me know what you find, directly if you wish.
DavidP, Happy New Year
