Hello Guys and Merry Christmas !

I have a question more : Where is the air folter on my MF ?
I open the left tag "165" on the front side of the hood and it is not like it is explaned in the operator's manual I have. first i have a can (about 1 liter with a cork and a little stick suspended on a little chain. (it seems to be the tank for the power steering wheel, I could be wrong). A little further, I see a bigger can (about two liters) It could be the can for the air filter with oil... As beginner, I do not like to dismount it without knowing... Am I thinking right ? Are they the right tanks : The little one with the gauge for the power stearing wheel-- The scond one, bigger is the container for the air filter...??? Let me know what do you think about that! I would ike to post a picture, but I do not know how to do it ! Where can I find the way ?

See you soon ! Jicarre

Bonsoir Jicarre, Bon Noel,
First of all the date that you have posted of 1996 would be wrong for a MF 165. As I recall it is likely to be 1966.
If your tractor is a 1966 UK model it will have an oil bath air filter. You can gain access by dropping the '165' medallion but generally it is easier through the front grille. If you have Multi-power remove the MP cooler to one side. The filter is attached to the two horizontal bars on the radiator surround. You will see 3 clips holding the lower pan in place. Undo these and remove the pan. Above it you will see the filter element. Work this down and inspect the underside. It may well be blocked. You have three options to clean it or buy new.
Blow it out with a high pressure air line.
Soak it in petrol or similar and blow it out.
Remove the sealing ring, soak it in petrol, place it in a suitable container and observing all safety precautions, set fire to it.
The last is the most effective as the debris turns to dust when cooled and can be blown out.
Clean out the pan and the thick 'mud' in the bottom and refill to the indicated oil level position.

Regards

DavidP

Thanks to You,

You very kind for answering so fast ! I am sorry my MF "FIRMIN" is a 1966 model UK... How correct it in the post ?

I am happy to see, I am not so wrong : I have actually remove the front calender and it is a little bite easier for access ! I will try to remove that pan ! But I was surprised to not see a blowhole or a spout for the air access. I probably can not see it because of the narrow access there... What do you think ?

The air goes in the hole at the top, an external pipe and pre cleaner was an option and a lot are so fitted here down under where dust is a problem.

Thanks RICHARD,

I will check it this morning in the day light. Thank for the information because I did not understand because I was not able to see the blowhole and the primary air cleaner...

See you soon on this forum ! Jicarre
