Hi, Rick.

I replaced the batteries in both of my MF-35s with Perkins diesel engines this fall. I installed 950 CCA batteries made by Exide from TSC. If you wait until they have a sale or special you can get them for about $90.00. Do not buy the similarly sized 750 CCA battery. One of my 35s had this battery in it when I bought it. There is a major difference in cranking speed.

I also replaced both battery cables with new 00 gauge cables. Propoerly sized battery cables are very important for cold weather starting.

Both crank very quickly now and will start below 30 degrees F without the use of the block heaters if I use the (functional) preheaters. If we get some cold weather this winter I will determine in what temperature I can start them using the (again functional) block heaters.
