I'm sorry to hear about your loss, I know the pain. We lost 2 dogs within less than a year, and I still miss them both. The first was Bogart, he was hit by a car around 10:30 at night on Aug 28, last year. I cried for weeks over him and we got a new pup a few months later. The next one was Diamond, who died in July this summer, to a uterin infection. We took her to the vet but by the time we found out anything she had already passed away. They did give us one litter of puppies, which we kept one from so we still have a little bit of them both with us. They are now buried in the back yard next to each other where they belong. Diamond I new was going to have a rough night if she'd even make it, so I sat by her for a while and said my goodbyes before she was taken. Still didn't lessen the pain much. It's been weird going to bed with only 2 dogs after having 3 for so long, then 3 again, then back to 2. Sorry to go so long, but I know how you feel. Some guys just don't get how a dog can be anyting more, but Bogart was my best friend and he adored me. Always by my side, and he knew he was an extremely hansome collie so he flaunted it in the 4-H show ring. Diamond was my mothers dog, but she still spent every night in my room with me. Both were more than just pets. Donovan from Wisconsin
