TO35 clutch problem

The clutch problem I am having is similar to many discussed on this forum but I still can't quite determine the exact cause or fix. The clutch seems to disengage the tranny just fine and I can shift the gears and the hi-lo speed without problem except when the PTO is engaged as well. Then the tractor wants to keep moving after the clutch is depressed. Once the tractor comes to a stop (by keeping the clutch depressed and applying the brakes) it is then a bit difficult to disengage the tranny. I do not know if this tractor has a dual clutch or if there is an ajustment taht can be made. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Tim

If I were to guess, I would say that your PTO shifter mechanism is staying engaged to Ground even when selected to PTO. That would explain why the gears bind up and the PTO drives the tractor. I would also guess that the clutch needs adjusted as your PTO clutch is not coming fully disengaged. It may be a heat issue binding the clutch where solving the first problem remedies the second. Just a guess, but that is where I would look. I am trying to link to a pic showing the gear cluster, but cannot. Look on page 6 or so for MF65 Project Progression Big Pics and you will find a inside belly pic of the cluster. The pump was removed in the shot so you can get an idea of what the PTO shifter looks like. HTH

Let's go Mountaineers,

Aaron

Aaron,

I did some more diagnostics on tractor and heres what I found - With just the tranny engaged and tractor moving when the clutch is depressed there is a momentary delay before the clutch releases; Then I checked the ground PTO whiched seemed to work just fine - I stopped and started and PTO spun and when I diengaged the lever and moved tractor no PTO; Then I checked the live PTO - spun it both with the tractor out of gear and then in gear and it seemed to work fine. Other then the momentary delay in releasing of the clutch the rest of the system seems to be working correctly. Under certain conditions the delay and thus the continued moving of the tractor seems to be worse (say when it is under more load). I did not run it enough yesterday to determine if the delay in releasing gets worse as thinks heat up. What do you think? Is there still an adjustment that can be made to fix the delay?

Thanks
Oztim

Thanks Aaron - I will look for the picture (always helpful to see what we are talking about). So there is a separte clutch for the PTO versus the tranny. Or is this what they call the the dual clutch? I will do some closer inspection and testing today to see if I can be more explicit in detail on problem.
