so i dont need to run non detergent oil in my 65 gas,ill only be using it in the summer for some mowing, and a few tractor pulls, so 10/40 should be fine?, and i just wanted to say thanks for all the help from jrsn, aaron ford, eric in il, insticks, and any one who may have helped in the past, merry christmas, eric g in mn.

I have heard that in older engines ND oil reduces the chances of knocking buildup loose and clogging the filter. It doesn't sound like you would have that problem unless it was run without a thermostat. I think most are going to the 15w-40 due to the pressure additives being removed from the 5, 10 and 20w gasoline oils. Your tractor was designed to run a 30W straight weight so 15w-40 is a viable alternative. HTH
