Hi Guys,

thanks for the help with the previous thread.

I've spent the day trying to work out the hydraulics, and am completely baffled. The previous owner seriously bodged them. There is a top-up take just behind the radiator which has had its hoses cut. and what looks like the pipes that should go to it have just been looped. Anyway. As well as the loader which is fed from a lever system on to the left of the driver, there is a power steering circuit and a change over valve under the seat which switches the hydraulics from the loader to the power steering/three point linkage system. Does anyone have a diagram or idea as to how this lot should be connected for real.

Kind regards

Ian

Ian...Looks like your front mounted hydraulic pump for the loader is intact. You can see the indicator for the level is that sight glass on the inside of the loader frame.
I wonder what happened to your power steering pump. Bet there is a story behind it! There is a shadow in the picture so it doesn"t look like a blank over the flange. See if you can stick something in there to "test the hole" Maybe all you need is to find a powersteering pump and the required hoses to get you to the steering valve. They may already be there.
Does the previous owner know anything about it?
Gary

Hello Ian ...On the North American tractors the loader power steering and 3-point hitch have separate pumps and hydraulic systems.
The pump for the loader is directly driven via a flanged mounting arrangement on the end of the engine crankshaft pulley The shaft passes thru the front axle pivot. The reservoir for the loader is in the loader frame the loader control valve dumps hydraulic fluid in to the reservoir when this hydraulic system is not powering the cylinders.
The powersteering pump is located on the right side front of the engine and is gear driven via the main enclosed geartrain. The reservoir is integral to the pump.
The 3point hitch uses the Ferguson System pump which is located internally just behind the transmission.
From your description your 3-point pump may be doing all the work. Perhaps the previous owner had problems with the other pumps and for whatever reason decided not to repair or replace them.
If you could remove the flat front plate with the holes that protects the rad you should be able to see the loader pump(if it's there). You could then post pictures of it,the right side of the engine and the switch over valve and any other items that concern you. Maybe they could help explain what has gone on.

Hi Gary,

sorry about the quality of the picture, in fact what looks like a hole is just a recess. after looking closer at it, its just a recessed blanking plate, which looks like its been there forever. This still doesnt quite explain the tank just behind the radiator, which Big Dean describes on his site as the filler tank for the power steering. At the moment the two pipes from it are just hanging loose.

All rather mysterious.

Kind regards

Ian

this last pick, shows where the power steering pump usually is on normal tractors. as you can see there is what looks like a factory fitted blanking plate.
