I am trying to restore a MF 65. I can not seem to find anyone or business that has oringal style gages or tachometer/proofmeter. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Happy Holidays

I got a near-to-original tach for my MF65 from bareco.com.au, only AU$93. Excellent service and quality. They have distributors in USA. Shows ground speeds in each gear, correct PTO speed, hours, etc. Only non-original thing is it doesn't say 'MF65' at bottom of dial.

I am right there with you. There are several on eBay but I have not seen one that is close. There were two I know of on the 65 (US) and had to do with whether or not you had the 1500-540 or 1700-540 tranny. 692932 was the first of the 1700 series on the gas models and 692874 was the first serials of the 1700 on the diesel. I think it changes the speed indicated per RPM.

One retailer has said that he can find any proofmeter for this model and quoted a price of around $50 US. His eBay name is porter8N. Look him up on ebay and email him. His products are first rate and his shipping reasonable. He can also find and include other items if you ask. I have ordered from him several times during my resto.

Hope you find it.

As near as I can tell, the only difference in the tachs is the line indicating the proper engine speed for PTO RPM.

The tach for the early transmissions shows about 1500 rpm for 536 rpm PTO speed; the later one shows 1700 engine rpm for the proper PTO speed.

The hour meter still shows engine hours at 1525 rpm or so, and as far as I can tell, the ground speed readouts are identical.

An aftermarket tach on our 165 shows no ground or pto speed recommendations - just rpm, and records engine hours at 1800 or so rpms.

That would make perfect sense. The early models used 1500 rpm to send 540 to the PTO while the later models ran at 1700 to make 540. Hence the 1500-540 and 1700-540 designations. This would be an easy way to increase HP available to the PTO while still keeping the engine within operating limits. Thanks for your response. I think I understand now.
