I have recently aquired a MF 35. Don't know much about it yet other than was told a new motor is needed. I wouldn't bother except this tractor has a nice FEL. Where can I find a gas Continental Z134? Or can I replace motor with a diesel? Or should I just keep the FEL and part out the tractor? Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will look around for a used motor or a tractor in tough shape with that motor. I have been 'playing' with old Fords for quite a while but never had a Massey to work on. Seems like it would make a nice tractor. By the way, how do you determine if a MF 35 has power steering without driving it?

If it has power steering, there will be a small hydraulic pump and reservoir on the left side of the engine, driven off the gear box on the front of the engine. There will be hoses from there to the power steering valve on the bottom of the steering column, and there will be a short fat hydraulic cylinder on the front end of the steering gear box.

The difference between a Ford N series and MF-35 is like the difference between a toy and a real working tool.

dave,, there are lots of tractors with the z134 continental, mh35,to35,mh50,mf50,202's probly tons more.My advice would be to look for one in dire shape (IE no tires, bad trans, an old junker that still has a running engine)

you might be lucky enough to get what you need and recoup most of your money by selling the extra parts

I,m pretty sure a 145 will bolt right in too.

You have lots of choices. If you really need to use the tractor in a hurry, you can by a remanufactured engine that's a drop in for around $2000-2200. If you have the time, the inclination, and the tools, you can buy a rebuild kit for probably less than $800 and rebuild it yourself. You may need some machine work especially with the head so figure anothe $400 for that. Or you can part it out. You money, your choice.
