Hi, i have a 1130 and i just rebuilt the motor, $4000,00 worth of stuff the tractor previously sat for 10 yrs before i got it which it had a rod knock when i got it. I got the tractor back together and got it started up, i then drove it probally about 5 miles and then it died. It acted like it just ran out of fuel. so i bleed it out and got it pumped up by hand, it then ran for about a 1/4 mile the died again i proceed to do this another 2 times and then loaded on the trailer. So when i got it home i changed the fuel filters, and it still done the same thing, would it be possible for the lift pump to be bad and not be able to keep the filters full? I took the pump apart and the diaphram looks fine. Any suggstions? P.S. the tractor runs perfect when it is running, no misse, smoke or anything.

Well, i put all new tubing sleeves on the fuel lines, and a new gasket on the sediment bowl, and its running fine now. So i moved hay for about 4hrs today and it done fine except for dieing a few times cuz the sediment bowl kept getting full of stuff out of the tanks. I think i am just going to have to deal with this for awile.

But now i got another problem the tractor is using oil, it is running out the first exhaust port. It was oily in this same spot when i bought the tractor and i cleaned it when i rebuilt the motor, but now its oily again. So this leads me to believe there is a problem in the head which i did not do anything to when i rebuilt the bottom end. So i am thinking maybe bad valve seals. What do you guys think??? P.S. it has a new turbo on it so that ain' the problem.

Thanks, Ryan

Howdy again, well i drove the tractor around the field again tonight for about 30-45min at about 2000-2200rpm and no problems. The sediment bowl has about 1/4 in of stuff in the bottom. I would say i am going to have to run the tractor and just keep the fuel system clean. Another question how loud should the valves be in this motor,it has a valve tick and i know some would be normal but how bad, it might just be the cab echoing it.

Check the gasket on the settling bowl on the lift pump. On my 1100, I had a small air leak that would cause rough run under load.

Well the tractor has a steady supply of fuel to the lift pump and from there to the filters the screen in the injector pump is clean. I got the tractor running and i let it run for about 20 mins at about 1000rpm it never died. I will have to run it some more this weekend maybe.

Check to see if the fuel line is partially plugged from the tank to the lift pump.Should have a full flow of fuel when removed at the pump. How is the tank vented? Through the cap or otherwise?

Check the lift pump diaphram - sometimes get a pin hole - a replacement kit is only a few dollars. Also check mesh filter above bowl on lift pump and conical mesh filter above fuel tap inside the tank. These problems occur on MF135 Perkins and probably later models.

I had a similar problem several years ago with my 1130. It was O rings on the line between the inj pump and the fuel filters if I correctly recall. They had aged and apparently let some air into system. Let us know what you find.

Masseys are famous for lift pumps wearing out. I'd would change it. They are fairly inexpensive.
