I have inherited front end loader and would very much like to know more about it in order to discuss maintenance, etc. However, I first need to know what it is.

There is a Massey Ferguson tag on the left heavy duty upper arm of the front end loader. (pardon all my nave descriptions). It denotes the following: MF 34, then underneath in Black : L8110, next to that is 10150.

About knee high on the left side of the dash is What appears to be a 9 or 9A 201448. Along with a lot of patent information.

There is another tag on the left side of the engine area: Perkins Lucas Cav; Serial No. 27133JKG, also DES: 323OF240.

These are all of the Aluminum tagged info that I have been able to find. All the other numbers appear to be part numbers for the individual pieces making up the tractor.

There is also a big heavy steel rectangular box like thing with a blade that appears to attach to the rear of the tractor as well as a big mower attachment. There is a steel canopy over this diesel tractor and it has hydraulic levers on the back right side as well as the front right for the arms and bucket. There are two shift arms on the floor below the dash and one appears to be a low and high and the other is some other gear shifter. The left foot is a brake. The right has a three pronged shift the left prong is forward, the center is neutral and the right is reverse. I dont need to shift really.

When I try to look up information on this I usually come up with MF35s so I am not sure if this is a hybrid of the MF35. I also dont know if this is an industrial tractor or not.
It sure seems like it would be. Can someone help me determine what this is. I am going to take a picture soon. That would certainly help, but I am hoping that the above numbers will do the trick.

Thank you very much, Michael

Mike, Your 9A prefix and the serial no. indicates
a 1974. This was a common s/n in those years and
does not help find the model. Otherwise you have
rec. good info, count the cylinders. When you say
screeching behind the fan belt that seems in the
engine. Check the front pump driveshaft-LH threads
in coupler to engine or splines further front, they
could be worn out or the rubber bushings in the
coupling plate(they are replaceable). Good luck
Chuck

It's an industrial model. Either an MF30 or MF40. Those were the tractors that came with the MF34 loader. Good tractors. If it's a 3 cylinder it's a 40. If it's a 4 cylinder it's a 30. AD3-152 or AD4-203. The blade for the back is a box scraper. If it's an MF it's a model 18. 73 or 81 inches wide. They are a good scraper as well. It could be another brand. The 3 pedal instant reverse transmission is desirable as it uses a torque converter. The middle pedal is throttle only. You have to put it in the gear you want and then use the foot pedals. 9A is a serial number prefix for a bunch of different models made from 1967 on. Some web searching can tell you the year or someone here will know. The CAV numbers are for the injection pump. On the block or the intake manifold might have the engine model. Hope this helps. Dave

Please help
I also have a Massey Ferguson MF34 S/N 1687100321
It has a front end loader.

I need a power steering pump kit for this unit.
Can anyone please help me locate these parts.
I need both the pump and the gear part that drives the splines on the pump.
Tia

Jake

Re: MF34 loader - Loud screeching sound in reply to 135 fan, 12-04-2006 15:19:37
Thanks alot Dave. That was very helpful.

A couple of concerns I have about the operation of the loader.

1. When I use the hydraulics and reach the end of the bucket cycle if I continue to engage the hydraulic control the engine may shut down if not enough throttle.

Thank you! Michael
I replaced all hydraulic oil when upgrading some hoses on the loader. (Wasn't much in the reservoir).

2. I have only started this up a couple times this winter since replacing the hoses and adding hydraulic oil and have noticed a nausiating loud screeching noise that seems to come from the left side of the front end about a foot behind the fan belt (engine side). This sound lessens for some reason when the hydraulic control is engaged.

Any thoughts anyone? I would sure like to put this to work, but I want to make sure it is mechanically sound before I do. Is there something I may have done when I added the oil? or didn't do?
